Production · Planning

For production managers, planners, and plant managers. Plant managers also start their day from Today's Tasks on the Ask home screen (urgent incidents · pending approvals · incidents to review · suggestions).

Summarizing a week in one page

  • Who Plant manager · production manager
  • When Before the weekly meeting
  • How Create and enable an automation from the «Weekly Equipment Report» template under Automation › Templates (default: every Monday at 08:00). To quickly check action results only, pick a 7-day period under the Suggest › Completed tab.
  • What you get The automation produces a report covering the last 7 days — number of findings per equipment · alarm count · health index · one-line assessment, and equipment that got worse than last week — which you can download from the report screen as Excel · CSV, or turn into meeting materials via Print · PDF. The template is also sent by internal email (with PDF attached) to the plant manager role, but the PDF attachment is only included when the installation's PDF conversion service responds. The top of the Completed tab shows, in one line: Actions N · Processing time (median) · Verification pass % · Recurrence N · Awaiting result N. For numbers like production · OEE · loss, ask directly, e.g. "Summarize this week's OEE and losses" in Ask.
  • Note The old «Reports» screen no longer exists. Only suggestions that have been executed and had results recorded appear in the Completed tab and reports. → Use Cases — Automation · Suggest

Asking which customer POs are at risk of missing today's deadline

  • Who Plant manager · production manager
  • When Before the morning meeting, before delivery-pressure calls come in
  • How On an installation with the digital thread connected, ask "Show me the top 5 orders at risk of missing today's deadline and why." To get this every weekday morning, create and enable an automation from the «Delivery-Risk PO» template (default: Mon–Fri 07:00) — this template only appears in the list when a digital thread tool is present.
  • What you get For each customer PO, the slack days and risk level (overdue · at risk · slack · unknown) computed by the digital thread, along with the reasons. Slack days come in two forms — one after the recovery calculation propagates part delays (delay-reflected), and one based on the work-order plan end date (plan-based).
  • Note There is no dedicated screen for showing deliveries · customer POs — you ask via Ask. Slack days are the expected completion time subtracted from the end of the confirmed delivery date (or contract delivery date if none exists); under 2 days counts as «at risk». If the ERP connector does not supply customer orders, the result is «unknown». → Digital Thread

Will this order finish on time? Admin setup required

  • Who Production manager · planner
  • When Concerned about the completion time of an order in progress
  • How Ask "When do you think this order will finish? Will we fall short at the current pace?"
  • What you get Expected completion based on recent production pace, and whether it will fall short.
  • Note The order-completion forecasting tool (insight_forecast_order_completion) is disabled by default — an admin enables it in AI Admin Console › MCP Gateway › Tools. → MCP Gateway

Asking how much a delivery will slip if a part is late

  • Who Planner · purchasing
  • When When a supplier reports a part delay
  • How On an installation with the digital thread connected, ask "Compare the delayed milestones with recovery options."
  • What you get Which jobs the late part is blocking, the milestone delay (in days), and a verdict of recoverable / not recoverable if the supplier expedites — together with the current expected arrival date and the date if expedited.
  • Note The SCM connector must supply supplier capacity for a «recoverable» verdict to be given. If unknown, the answer is «impact only». Numbers are computed by the server; the AI only relays them.

Drafting a supplier expedite request when a part is late

  • Who Someone authorized to approve drafts — who has this authority is set per installation → Access Control
  • When A late part is pushing back a milestone
  • How Open the part-delay recovery suggestion card in Suggest. Check the content in the Draft created on approval section, enter an approval reason, then click Approve and create draft.
  • What you get A purchase-order expedite request draft is created in SCM, and its request number is recorded on the card.
  • Note The SCM connector must support receiving expedite request drafts. Some installations require approval from two different people (dual approval). Final confirmation is done by a person within SCM. → Suggest — Draft created on approval

Getting a recovery plan draft when equipment goes down

  • Who Planner · approver
  • When Replanning is needed due to breakdown · quarantine · maintenance window
  • How Open an AI suggestion card under Suggest › To-do › Planning. To dig deeper, use Continue in Ask from the detail view.
  • What you get A recovery plan replanned with alternate equipment · qualified personnel · schedule. The calculation factors in maintenance work orders and preventive maintenance windows (CMMS), safety lockout · work permits (EHS), and the published schedule plan (APS) as constraints. Record Accept · Reject on the card, and if a draft is attached, approve it to push the draft into the source system.
  • Note If recovery means (alternate equipment · personnel info) are unavailable, no calculation is performed — only «impact only» is reported. Accuracy is limited to the scope of connected connectors.

When the same thing is called by different numbers across systems

  • Who Production engineering · system administrator
  • When MES · ERP · PLM use different numbers for the same equipment · part number
  • How An admin declares them as «the same» in the digital thread (operator-declared identity).
  • What you get Subsequent timeline and impact calculations treat those numbers as linked. Unmatched numbers are flagged separately.
  • Note Links are never inferred — only human-declared links are connected. → Digital Thread
